Critical Multiliteracies and Children is a teaching aid, desk reference, and textbook for courses in school library media, educational technology, or communication. The book begins by charting historical changes in the idea of literacy from one grounded in print to one that embraces multiple practices and modalities. The first section describes a critical multiliteracies approach to the design of technology-infused learning environments for children. The book proceeds to present a series of case studies with examples of programming that use a critical multiliteracies framework. Finally, there is a teaching aid containing an accessible set of activities and best practice materials (developed during the case studies) to support youth computer, media, and information literacy.
