"Good memories"
5 stars"

Brilliant game. Loved it as a kid and have nothing but fond memories. One of the greatest RPGs of the PS2 and only few that I actually replayed (sold it on whim then repurchased). It's sort of rare around this part of the world so go grab it.

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Honestly one of the best games for the PS2. Not only does the game have an enthralling story, but many side activities such as fishing which will keep you entertained for hours. 10/10.

"Greatest Game EVER!!!"
5 stars"

My dad and I used to hire this game out from the local dairy every week for $5 for like 3 months not knowing it could be bought for only $20 at the Warehouse at the time (although now Mighty Ape is the only place in NZ to get it). I love the Georama and upgrading weapons, this game is just amazing. It is great for hours of non-stop creative fun.

Description

Dark Chronicle delivers an epic role-playing experience filled with adventurous worlds, real-time battles and innovative gameplay systems. Live the adventure of the inventive young man, Maximilian, who is visited by a heroine from the future, Monica. Together they will rebuild the present world with help from the past in order to correct the unbalanced state of the future. They will encounter many characters and learn secrets of time's past, present and future.

Dark Chronicle features several different gameplay elements that original Dark Cloud gamers are familiar with as well as new features that will enhance the overall gaming experience.

The unique Georama returns with a refined system that provides more freedom in rebuilding lost worlds. No longer limited by confined grids, any Georama piece can be dropped at any location at any angle. Also, customisation in colour and accessories, such as light posts and chimneys can be added to existing homes. Rebuilding a world not only affects the current landscape but also has an effect on the distant future's setting as well, which greatly impacts the storyline's chain of events.

As you explore the treasure filled dungeons, you'll encounter hundreds of different monsters. Combat takes on a whole new feel as the battle system and weapon upgrade systems have been improved. Both Maximilian and Monica harness the abilities to ward off even the strongest of monsters, with both close-combat and long-range attacks. Skilled manoeuvres allow each of the characters to dodge, block and outwit unsuspecting enemies with well-timed blows. Also, fully customisable weapons are at your disposal. Each item in your inventory can be "spectrumised" to harness its "Spirit". These elements can increase another item's power, especially weapons.

At heart, Maximilian loves to create, rebuild and invent. His abilities allow you to increase the number of useful items through Dark Chronicle's invention system. With his trusty camera, Max uses his photography skills to grasp new ideas and innovations. Through the invention system, combining ideas leads to the creating of new items that can be used as tools or weapons. For example, Max can create a controllable robot that utilises extra firepower useful for encounters against overwhelming monsters.

Finally the inclusion of mini-games adds to the variety of different gameplay elements. Spheda golf allows you to revisit dungeons to play a round of golf to collect special items. Another mini-game revolves around fishing, not only is fishing a key element to the storyline, but raising, training and racing provides hours of fun.

Massive worlds, endless adventure and a unique combination of gameplay elements provide an RPG experience engulfing the past, present and future.
