Description

Silver Medalist for Bank Street College of Education’s Best Spanish Language Picture Books of the Year ^ Named one of Kirkus Reviews Best Books of 2019 ^ Named one of New York Public Library’s Top Ten Los Mejores Libros para Pequeños list ^ Named one of New York Public Library's Best Books for Kids 2019  "An ideal vehicle for readers to ponder and discuss their own identities."— Kirkus (starred review) Este resonante libro ilustrado cuenta la historia de una niña a la que constantemente se le hace una pregunta simple que no tiene una respuesta simple. También disponible en inglés: Where Are You From

Author Biography:

Yamile (pronounced sha-MEE-lay) Saied Mendez was born and raised in Rosario, Argentina to a family with roots from all over the world. She now lives in a small mountain town in the United States with her Puerto Rican husband, five multi-cultural kids, two bilingual dogs, and a herd of deer that love to eat her flowers. She's a graduate of the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Visit her at yamilesmendez.com. Jaime Kim was born and raised in South Korea before moving to the USA when she was 18. Although she was a timid child who was afraid of just about everything, she discovered a sense of serenity in drawing. As a grown-up, Jaime finally stopped being afraid of everything, but kept on drawing and painting. She works with gouache and acrylics to create nostalgic and dreamlike illustrations, inspired by childhood memories of her family, as well as movies, art, and the outside world. Her favourite things are the sun, the moon, the sky and stars - which is why they always creep into her artwork. Her debut illustrated picture book, Take Heart, My Child by Ainsley Earhardt, was a #1 New York Times bestseller. Jaime is also the illustrator of Kate DiCamillo's La La La.
