English summary: History is made by humans, and so the fates of individuals plays at least as an important role as general trends and group dynamics. And because one cannot exist without the other, it makes sense that the study of humanity is itself a shorter or longer history of humans themselves. With these words of Ottilien from the Wahlverwandtschaften arise two essential points of the jubilee year: to turn to what is in the area of one's own interests, regardless of current fashion, and at the same time to recognize that the object of the humanities is always humanity. The anthology is in commemoration of the 65th birthday of Alfred Grimm and presents essays from Egyptology, Coptology, history, art, music, medicine, political science, linguistics as well as provenance research. The period of time ranges from antiquity to the 20th century and while some contributions bring the fate of individual persons into focus, others consider broader questions that were or are important for the development of culture. This reflects the different areas of Grimm's academic work and his scholarly interests.
