"Herge's Epic Journey To The Moon"
4 stars"

Nineteen years before the actual Moon landing, Herge delivered this epic, suspenseful, action packed adventure. His master stroke was meticulous attention to detail of what the experience would be like from construction of the rocket itself to space travel using then most up to date scientific information.

It allows contains one of the funniest gags in the Tintin series, infamous Professor Calculus “acting the goat”.

If this were dedicated to NASA and 1969 Apollo 11 Moon landing they would be mightily proud.

Description

"Destination Moon" gives a detailed account on the preparation and the launching of the expedition to the Moon from the Sprodj Atomic Research Center in Syldavaia using the rocket designed by Professor Calculus. This is the first half of the tale, which is continued in "Explorers on the Moon."

Author Biography:

Hergé (Georges Remi) was born in Brussels in 1907. His pseudonym comes from his initials backwards (R.G., as pronounced in French). Over the course of 54 years he completed 23 albums of The Adventures of Tintin series, which is now considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comics series of all time. With translations published in over 80 languages, more than 230 million copies sold worldwide and a Hollywood movie to its name, Tintin dominates the Comics and Graphic Novels chart even today. Sadly, Hergé died in 1983, leaving his 24th album, Tintin and Alph-Art, unfinished, but his hero continues to be one of the most iconic characters in both adult and children’s fiction.
