Description

The aim of this book is to provide readers with a springboard to a deeper and broader understanding of the practices of hypnotism. To better represent the many facets of modern hypnotism, the author has explored the fields of science, religion, psychology, medicine, politics, law and literature. Virtually every aspect of this diverse field is studied and presented. The book is laid out in simple alphabetical order. Movie and literature entries are listed by the first noun in the title. Asterisks are used within the text to denote that the indicated word or phrase is covered under its own separate heading. Each entry is concluded by a set of references for further study in that area. Following the entries are a series of appendices that should provide convenient reference to techniques of hypnotic induction, a brief list of individuals who have offered significant contributions to the field and a selection of terms specific to hypnotism. This text may be of interest to anyone involved in medicine, psychology, hypnotism or their associated fields. Anita Evengelista first became interested in hypnotism in high school. After years of applied research, she joined the California Professional Hypnotist Association, eventully serving as its president. In addition, she ran a thriving hypnotism business. In these capacities she often appears on live radio and gives frequent lectures and demonstrations. Evangelista also served as technical advisor to the MGM feature film, "Audrey Rose". The previous collection of Evangelista's thoughts can be found in her book "Hypnosis, A Journey into the Mind" and in magazine articles written by her.
