Author Biography:

A trained diplomat, TALYN RAHMAN-FIGUEROA is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Grassroot Diplomat, a non-profit diplomatic consultancy that focuses on making diplomacy inclusive for everyone. An award-winning communications consultant, Talyn has been described as a 'change-maker' by members of the diplomatic corps and is an excellent networker and strategist in the field. Talyn has over ten years' experience working with various international NGOs and government bodies, assisting on high-level projects from business, innovation and trade to public health, climate change and education, working alongside top leaders and senior management teams. With board level experience, Talyn leads all aspects of the consultation process and works closely with clients to help them realise how to best represent their cause and country both at an official and grassroots level. Talyn is the author of "Women in Diplomacy: An assessment of British female ambassadors in overcoming gender hierarchy, 1990-2010", "Brexit Handbook: Management of Civil Society Crisis for Global Diplomats", as well as the full "Diplomatic Planner" series. Her natural talent includes developing effective strategic communications on behalf of public sector projects and is currently developing a line of self-development toolkits in the practices of international relations. This includes the launch of the Grassroot Diplomat Online Academy, where Talyn produces the Grassroot Diplomat Talks podcast, offers 1:1 tailored career coaching for aspiring international relations practitioners, and online webinars on the modern practices of diplomacy.
