Description

As a young buck, Hemp Firestone, a former owner of a tire warehouse, would put up metal weather vanes consisting of various types of animals that would spin around and draw lightning. Hemp put the animals on homeowners' roofs, doghouses, telephone poles, and even in some cases, cars.

Author Biography:

I served over 60 years as a Montgomery County, MD Firefighter. During this time, I had the opportunity and good fortune to work and ride with many other Fire and Rescue Companies, including several of the elite Rescue Units in New York City. This book describes life both in and out of the Firehouse, and specifically the many calls that I have been on during my career, some turning out good and some with very dismal outcomes. I would like to dedicate this book in memory of all those Firefighters who have given their lives before me and will do so unfortunately in the future.
