Description

Do giraffes get hiccups? Is there such a thing as a whale of a headache? What do centipedes do with all THEIR pins and needles? This playful prose-poem has a simple mission: To amuse children. But also to keep them wondering. Not always provide answers! Education guru, writer and humanist Jack Shallcrass reviewed fifty years of the New Zealand School Journals. In his assessment of the poetry section he singled out Do Rabbits Get The Stitch?: "The poems, though they are chosen for their local, contemporary flavour, also have universal and traditional qualities. Above all, they have sparkle and fun. A good example is "Do Rabbits Get The Stitch?" by Christine Hunt Daniell."

Author Biography:

Christine Hunt Daniell has always loved words, and writing that delves below the surface. These words are dedicated to her children and grandchildren, who also delve and wonder. Other writing by Christine Hunt Daniell includes two children's books, Do The Hills Talk? and Jessie's yellow Bike, and poems and stories for the New Zealand School Journal and children's TV. She has also written four adult oral history books: Something In The Hills, Speaking A Silence, I'm 95 - Any Objection? and Just An Orange For Christmas. She has an MA ( Hons) in English from Canterbury University, New Zealand, lives in rural Wairarapa, New Zealand, and calls the hills of Nelson and Wairarapa her home. Pauline Bellamy is a professional artist with over fifty years experience presenting exhibitions and illustrating books. Her confident, prolific work has been shown and collected widely. Bellamy celebrates the unassuming, lesser-known sides of Aotearoa with her distinctive light, observational perspective. She lives and works on the Otago Peninsula. www.bellamysgallery.com
