I received my screwdriver this morning, and was all set to leave a poor review and ask for my money back. Why- – because contrary to the instructions, there is no battery compartment visible, and it looks like a sealed unit with no way to remove or change the pre-installed batteries. Now, I was a technician for more than thirty five years, but it still took me a good ten minutes to figure it out, so here's the deal: There is a button that operates the sliding portion of the screwdriver, and if you pull that off there is a screw underneath it, Undo the screw, and the sliding section pulls out to reveal the battery compartment – Ta Da! The end result is a very nice replica sonic screwdriver, with no externally visible screw-holes or panels, and even more impressive, absolutely no obtrusive legal and copyright codswallop spoiling the look. That is a first! I'm going to give it my own paint treatment, but all in all, a great little replica at a good price.
