Description

Ajax has fragmented into hundreds of frameworks, all with their own promise but not much of an audience. Only one sophisticated framework, Dojo, has emerged as a prime contender for future development.Dojo combines a packaging system that makes JavaScript's object approach seem more familiar with a remarkable and expanding set of reusable widgets. As developers learn to use one widget, their learning curve for the next one improves, and working with Dojo widgets ensures better interoperability than is reliably possible with widgets from multiple sources. The quality of Dojo widgets has proven consistent and improving, and the size of the library gives developers growing assurance that they'll be able to find whatever components they need within Dojo,.With the support of the Dojo Foundation and of a variety of large companies, the security of the Dojo project seems assured. The core group of committers is expanding to a wider group, with more and more developers, even some outside of Dojo itself, building new widgets on top of the Dojo packaging system. Developing with Dojo should release around the time of the Dojo 1.0 release, and will explain in depth how that set of libraries can make web developers' lives much simpler.
