"Good but not Great"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I just finished Dragon Age 2 today after purchasing it only earlier this week, as I expected it to be a GREAT RPG. Sadly my expectations were diminshing as the game progressed.

Dragon Age Origins was what I would call GREAT as an RPG, just as Neverwinter Nights was. It took me approximately 20–21 hours gameplay to complete the story of Dragon Age 2. As it is set only in one city, Kirkwall, I believe that limits the potential of what Dragon Age Origins was.

There are some gamers that want the best graphice, I am not one of those. It might just be possible that the texture patch could increase the graphics but my interests lie in the Gameplay and Story.

Gamplay I though was very good, it did in my opinion surpass DA Origins but the story left a lot to be disired for.

For one, you can only choose a human as the hero.

For two, the story left an incredible amount unanswered and it in no way complete. Just like at the end of a movie which suggests there is a lot more going to happen, this is the case for Dragon Age 2, and there is no doubt in my mind without reading another review that there will be an expansion to this game, simply a matter of time.

I did read an old review (before it had been officially released that) that gamers were querying as to whether EA simply slapped on the 2 of a game they were developing as a side project. There might be some truth to that after all.

"Cellphone version of DA1"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Thanks to the focus on the console this game feels like a dumbed down version of the first and more like something you would expect to find on your iPhone.

It takes about 10hours to play through where you will find to gripping parts of the story, the rest of the game involves doing side quests that really do have nothing to do with the main game.

"Ea does it again..."

Bioware seems to have sold out, it appears this and mass effect are going to suffer from “make an addon call it a new game slap an ascending number on it” Anyone wonder why mass effect 2 seemed so shallow untill about 50–100$ worth of expansions had been dumped on it- – same reason this one feels shallow and incomplete, like buying a book where it goes chap 1 – 3 skips the middle and hello that the end of the book , want to see what happens in the middle bit- pay up!

"But then again not everyone can be pleased"
3 stars"

Average. The only word I can use to explain the long awaited sequal to a brilliant game. Initially the game takes a hold of you and you are immersed in a world and story line never used or seen before. Next thing you know it, the game has finished and your left wondering if you really got what you paid for.

However the biggest concern was that there seemed to be some corners cut with development to rush the game into the marketplace. Possibly to rival game releases such as Dungeon Siege 3. An example is the repeated use of landscapes and indoor areas which are slightly altered for each quest.

This Review is not to prevent people from buying Dragon Age 2 but to raise awareness. Because there are people out there who may feel that money may be better spent elsewhere. If the above mentioned is not to their liking.

However I do want to mention that I enjoyed the storyline and forced myself to replay the game and choose to complete a different storyline. The graphics also didn't let the game down.

"Good game but..."
4 stars"

Excellent combat, A bit glitchy, and stif character models

The story does not seem as long as dragon age 1, and the story does not feel finished once you beat the game which is done on purpose to make you buy extra down loadable content.

Try to finish every mission before you go to the next act on this game because you will not be able to redo the missions without restarting the whole game. worst thing about this game is after you finish the game you cannot leave the mission hub(your house) because all the areas will be locked to force you to buy extra dlcs to continue

"Codswallop"

This game is so frustrating as to be unbelievable. The inventory system works backwards, supposedly fixable by patch – nah huh, mine still works in reverse; mostly not at all. The Bioware account one has to sign up for may as well be space junk – I am “not authorised to join the forums” – why the hell not as a registered user of the game--- Support is almost non-existent..... So, to the game: Good points Nice graphics, music fine, good speed for loading, interesting storyline Bad points – cannot gain enough points to upgrade myself or my companions enough to beat the bosses – even on ‘casual’ (easy), the bosses have ludicrous amounts of health and power. Save files only about a dozen, so if you want go back you can't. Glaring oversights at important moments, cannot change your team when it's really needed. Selling items the whole two or three stores takes money off me---Navigation is a very painful process and there are several places once entered that you cannot back out of to try again later. I don't play RPG games often and this is so badly done I don't think I'd buy another one. In other words, it's probably like Paris Hilton, relatively attractive but vacuous ,to anyone over the age of 14.

"A very enjoyable experience"
5 stars"

Having read up on a number of reviews before playing this game I heard it was good but not great.

I can see why people say that after completing the game as the ending is a great battle, but doesn't feel epic enough for the game.

I did however enjoy playing the whole game and never got tired or bored of combat or story which is a testimony to Bioware. It could be better, but I had a LOT of fun playing this game.

"Can't wait for the expansions"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The graphics and story of dragon age are top notch. It really is a joy to play through. The classes while limited are fairly even and each has a host of special abilities bound to get the boo-yah! out of your mouth.

Bioware have done a fantastic job the only downside is the limited content in terms of races and classes. I can't wait for the expansions to come out as that should advance these areas.

Overall a great game to play with a story that makes sense and will challenge you to make hard decisions about how to play your character. Great replayability, thoroughly worth buying if your an RPG fan.

"Definately Worth Playing"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Frequently I hear that DA2 is not as good as the original, and somehow “dumbed down” compared to Origins. However this is not the case. The graphics are greatly improved from Origins, and the fighting is much more immersive for the player. I especially enjoyed playing mages, which were a boring choice for the PC in the first game–in DA2 I by far prefer playing as a mage. The new companions each have fleshed-out stories of their own, and though you remain in one city compared to the many localities in Origins, the quests are more thought-out, and there is less repetition. The only thing I didn't really like is that you can only play as a human–but the Hawke storyline and the greatly improved character-creation really does make up for this. All-in-all, I felt DA2 improved upon the things that annoyed me about Origins, and I truly do recommend buying it! 10/10.

the graphics are so much better than the first dragon age. the gamepaly is different but awosome. it also allows you to load a saved game from origins and awakings that affect your choices as it is the history the charater will live in. a must have for the dragonage fans

"Best Turn-based RPG this year!"

If you liked DA: Origins (or even if you didn't) you will get a kick outta this game. Has the option to import save game data from Origins so you can play the game with the history you made! Well recommended!

"Awesome game"
4 stars"

The game has made some great improvements in certain aspects in comparison to Origins and naturally has a few low points as well. The combat is a lot more fun and visually entertaining for each of the three classes which is a very good thing considering how much fighting you do in the game. The companions are very likeable with the only downside being that there is less interaction with them as opposed to Origins. None the less what interactions are to be had has its own brand of awesome and the fully voiced conversations are a big plus.

There are a couple of bugs here and there, but they hardly lessened my enjoyment of the game. The amount of side quests can also be a bit overwhelming and the point of them unclear but they do add to the experience and can be good fun.

The game is great for casual gamers as well as the more demanding. The gameplay is very easy to learn and then master. I would definately recommend the game to anyone (perhaps not the squimish), especially for those who enjoyed the Origin games.

Shipped very quickly, got it way sooner than expected, and the game itself is something I will always treasure, easily one of my top five games and Dragon Age is in my top three game franchises!

Dragon age 2 came very quickly and was a good addition to my dragon age collection would recommend for its massive gameplay and hours of fun and entertainment.

"wont work"

The program requires age/date verification from an additional sight that does not work for me, and I cant contact anyone about it. Surly registering it on the Bioware sight should be enough. as it is I've brought an ornament.

Very good rpg, Hours of game play.

"Acceptable RPG that never really captured my attention." Purchased on Mighty Ape

The story line is similar to most RPG's and the characters, monsters, etc provide enough variety and gameplay to keep you interested. However I found some of the ‘physics’, particularly around moving your character, extremely frustrating. I give it 6 out of 10.

"Very enjoyable, played over and over" Purchased on Mighty Ape

A good follow on to the original, a huge area to explore, and playable more than once as different characters/choices lead to different paths.

"Loved the plot, the companions and the fighting styles."

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Loved the plot, the companions and the fighting styles, but I didn't like the ending (it felt too unfinished – the result of a bad cliffhanger), and I hated the clothes for the mages and I thought it was too short.

"FANTASTIC"

This game is the coolest, fab graphics, movie scenes and total action and story line. Glad I bought

"Keeps you going for days"

Yes it’s no DA organs, but it’s still a good RPG, the fact that you are only limited to playing a Human is a letdown, the combat was better and now that the price is so low, its really worth try

"Great game"

I personally found this an amazing sequel the original. It differs from origins in a number of ways but evolution of a series is the key to keep the fans interested and each new game fresh

"excellent game"

I have been looking forward to this game for a while and am absolutely impressed with it. The controls are relatively the same however character responsiveness seems to have improved. The world map is also alot better and there is a great new feature which means you don't have to worry about how to level up your character, the computer does it for you.

I would suggest this game to anybody and think it would be great for first time RPG game players and find it awesome that you do not have to have played the first game in order to play this one.

"Fantastic Game"

Dragon Age 2 has a lot more storyline than Dragon Age Origins with plenty more side quests and humour.

With it's gameplay closely resemballing games such as Diablo and Torchlight, it makes for a fun challenging game for everyone

"Great !!"

I played origins and awakening first, and really enjoyed them so bought this one, different game play but still addictive.

"Not as good as the first one but still a very good game" Purchased on Mighty Ape

I'm still working my way through it but have enjoyed the story and the action.

"WOW"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Just for starters, I'd like to say I loved Dragonage Origins. Everything about it was enjoyable so when starting this game I had high expectations. I was expecting/hoping for the same game with improved graphics and a new storyline. I will tell u now it does have better graphics but I feel it lacks a little in other areas.

The game does lack in story choices and options. When starting you can no longer choose a race (you are automatically a human) but you can still choose a class i.e. Mage, warrior or rogue. You can still customise yourself but the customisation of your party members is now rather limited. As for the storyline itself, I felt it lacked any major plot and it barely gets affected from loading your old origins game (yes, you can import your origins game).

The gameplay is slightly different and the combat is faster paced. I found myself relying less on the pause button to organise myself and my party, and getting more involved in the actual fighting (I personally enjoy the faster pace). This may sound like its a mindless hack and slash game, but its anything but.

After reading all this you may or may not want to buy it. In my honest opinion, I LOVED IT. I enjoyed it even more than Origins even though it is just a simplified version (simplified does not mean worse). I dont know exactly what makes me love it so much but I just do. On the other hand you may have the opposite reaction to me and end up hating the game. In that case stick to Origins. I highly recommend Dragonage 2 to serious (open minded) gamers.

"Excellent Game!!!"

It is a great RPG, took me around 19hrs to complete. However I think dragon age origins was slightly better.

"A lot of fun"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I've had a lot of fun with this game. It's more of an action rpg then Dragon Age: Origins/Awakenings, but that didn't worry me any. I also didn't mind the smaller setting. At the time of writing, I've spent at least 30+ hours with this game, and I've enjoyed every moment. The game loses a star due to some bugs that are present, which aren't gaming breaking, but are annoying, even with the latest patch (1.02).

"I am Addicted"
