Triple bill of dramas starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
‘Faster’ (2010) follows Driver (Johnson) upon his release from jail after
serving a ten year sentence. Driver is out to avenge the murder of his brother
during the botched bank robbery that led to his incarceration and wastes little
time in beginning his vengeance.
However, with two men hot on his trail, a veteran cop (Billy Bob Thornton) and a
skilled young assassin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), Driver would do well to maintain
the pace of his operations. Will he manage to accomplish his deadly mission
before either of his pursuers catch up with him?
In ‘Gridiron Gang’ (2006) Johnson stars as Sean Porter, a detention camp
probation officer who oversees the inmates at Camp Kilpatrick in Los Angeles and
isn't willing to write off the violent offenders who have been placed in his
care. Though their prospects for the future are bleak, Porter is convinced that
he can help the men turn their lives around and make amends for the mistakes of
their past.
When Porter's proposal of forming a football team at Camp Kilpatrick meets with
resistance in the highest ranks, the determined coach puts his career on the
line to prove that even convicted criminals can acquire the tools needed to
build a brighter future when given the proper motivation and the means of
doing so.
In ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ (2003) Johnson plays Beck, a bounty hunter who
has been sent to the Amazon to retrieve the treasure-hunting son of a wealthy
underworld kingpin. When Beck meets his quarry, Travis (Seann William Scott), he
realises he is far from the wayward good-for-nothing he'd been warned about, and
ends up joining forces with him to hunt for a priceless idol.
But the owner of the mine where they have been searching, Hatcher (Christopher
Walken), insists that anything found on his land belongs to him. Beck and Travis
may end up having to fight their way out of the jungle if they are to get the
idol to safety.
