This is a collection of prayers old and new. It offers reflections for drawing close to God as well as connecting to hurting people/hard situations. It is written by a well-known and loved author, who is now writing for "New Daylight" again. It is suitable for people looking for written prayers to make their own Quiet Spaces readers, as well as those leading worship and intercession in both small group and church settings. It includes prayers by Joyce Huggett, Kenneth Bailey, Mother Teresa, Eddie Askew, plus St Ignatius of Loyola, Charles de Foucauld, Teresa of Avila, Teilhard de Chardin, among others. The prayers are collected into six headings: enjoying intimacy with God; help me to say yes; when times are tough; going where it hurts; serving in all seasons; and enjoying God's world. It was first published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1996, this is a revised and redesigned volume.
Joyce Huggett first trained in counselling and spiritual direction while working alongside her ordained husband in the 1970s; these skills led to her best-selling books on listening to others and to God, as well as on relationships. After a number of years overseas with Interserve, she is now based in the UK, where she continues to write, including contributing to BRF's New Daylight notes, and leads retreats and Quiet Days.
