Author Biography:

Alexander Otgaar is senior researcher at the unit Regional, Port and Transport Economics, which is part of the department of Applied Economics of the Faculty of Economics, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He is also affiliated with the European Institute for Comparative Urban Research (EURICUR). Professor Dr Leo van den Berg is director of EURICUR. He is also director of the Unit Regional, Port and Transport Economics within the Department for Applied Economis at the Erasmus School of Economics, and he is scientific director of various master courses. Dr Jan van der Meer is associate professor of urban and regional economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam (School of Economics) and associate director of the European Institute for Comparative Urban Research (Euricur). Carolien Speller is a researcher in Urban and Regional Economics at Erasmus University and has been working for EURICUR since 2004.
