Arrangement is in 20 main subject sections, covering the three main political parties (Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat), prefaced by extended general essays and brief annotated bibliographies, together with other areas such as the far right, the far left, peace campaigns, think tanks, women's groups and ethnic minority movements. There are substantial sections on Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Europe, each introduced by an historical sketch and overview.
