Description

Errata are the result of lapses in judgment, and, while not necessarily driven by ill will or any desire to do evil, these often lead to results worse than are created in the wake of mere minor sins, or 'peccadilloes.' This is a novel about a string of such sins of omissions, and how they grew.Young Zheng He, one of Admiral Tse Deng's two apprentices in his final days of retirement, after his long, productive career in service to the New Outreach, was also a witness to that hero's murder, and the other atrocities committed by the Windsors of Alpha, as they invaded Fairyland, and claimed it as 'Caernarvon' [as told in Cancrizans: Fairyland (Xiānjìng)]. Even though he delivers the proof of their perfidy to the head of Intelligence for the New Outreach Navy, Admiral Potemkin, Zheng fails to report his suspicions that his fellow apprentice, Mei Hsiu Chen, is still alive, and now, after his recent escape from Yama, the prison planet run by the Windsors [as told in Debita: Fairyland], is building a galactic criminal syndicate, aimed at turning all Galactic Civilization on its head.Admiral Potemkin fails by not telling anybody (at all) anything he knows, unless it serves his immediate purpose, which is ending the rampant expansionism of Alpha's Windsors, to save Humanity's future. Potemkin, through his tunnel vision, falls into the error of not crushing all the vipers, but overlooking their sins whenever he can co-opt them, thinking this is more advantageous in the short term.Adolph Peatbogg, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, and long-time friend of King Charles the First of Alpha, blackmailed by Potemkin into assisting the New Outreach alter the course of Galactic History, is tangentially targeted to be killed by Mei Hsiu Chen, as revenge for that man's interruption of his earlier life on Yama. If that were to occur, the republican shift in Alphan policy will never be fully finalized.Weaving through this maze of errors and omissions is Zheng He's little sister, Zheng Baihé, known as 'Lily, ' chased by the ghosts set free by these tidal shifts in Mankind's affairs.
