Evapotranspiration in Agro-Ecosystems and Forestry: Spatio-temporal Applications presents the progress and advances made in terms of science and application of evaporation, transpiration, and evapotranspiration for various vegetation surfaces, water bodies, and bare soil under different soil and crop management (including different irrigation and tillage management) conditions. Sections on forest and wetlands evapotranspiration and grassland evaporative losses are included, as are the fundamentals of original Penman, Penman-Monteith, Shuttleworth-Wallace and ASCE-EWRI and FAO56 Penman-Monteith equations and their derivatives. The book is an excellent resource to better understand the progression and applications and dynamics of most recent evapotranspiration, evaporation and transpiration measurement and modeling technologies. Case studies will be provided in terms of how different technologies are currently deployed, how data are used for providing information and management decisions to the users.

Author Biography:

Dr. Suat Irmak is a Professor and Department Head of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Penn State. His has expertise in evapotranspiration, soil and water resources and irrigation engineering, conservation, agricultural water management, impact of climate change on water resources and agricultural and natural resources productivity, and environmental biophysics. He founded and led The Agricultural Water Management Network that enabled adoption of new technologies for conservation of water and energy resources in agriculture. He also founded and led the Water and Energy Flux Measurement, Modeling, and Research Network. He has received numerous regional, national, and international awards for his research accomplishments, including: American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) John Deere Gold Medal Award; ASABE Heermann Sprinkler Irrigation Award; ASABE ADS/Hancor Soil and Water Engineering Award; ASABE Netafim Award for Advancement in Microirrigation Award; USDA-NIFA National Water and Energy Conservation Award and numerous Teaching Awards
