Description

Falling overnight is a 2011 American indie romantic drama directed by Conrad Jackson.

For Elliot the maxim live each day as if it was your last holds a particular grave significance. After all it’s the day before he goes into hospital for major surgery to have a tumor removed from his brain. Naturally he fears the worst. Quite unexpectedly he meets Chloe, a vivacious young photographer who urges him to attend her first exhibition that night. What starts as a chance encounter soon blossoms into a magical evening as the pair journey through the city, sharing their experiences, hopes and dreams.

But when Chloe learns of Elliot’s condition the two must face a reality that threatens to destabilise their romance. Falling Overnight is a celebration of chance in which lost souls are both captive to and liberated by the moment.

Reviews

“Jackson’s mini-indie not only stays the course but also gets better throughout.” – Village Voice

“Disarming “Falling Overnight” adds a twist to the “Before Sunrise” 24-hour newbie romance conceit; this time, the male protag faces brain surgery in the morning. It’s a potential recipe for maudlin excess, yet debuting director/editor/lenser/co-scenarist Conrad Jackson pulls off a solid charmer that ingratiates from start to finish. – Variety

“BEFORE SUNRISE but far more intimate and genuine” Moviezine

“With an estimated budget of only $50,000, Conrad Jackson’s romantic drama Falling Overnight is a simple indie film with unexpected results. This subtle film sounds less interesting than it really is; a boy who is about to undergo risky surgery meets a girl and falls in love. With such a serious premise, the way the film is handled and plays out becomes a pleasant surprise. Also, the incredible performance from the lead, Parker Croft, greatly benefits the film by making it feel so genuine…Falling Overnight is not the first film to focus on a relationship that has a determined time in which it will end but it is certainly an honest and genuine one. The film does not pull any punches, what you think will happen pretty much does. But what makes Falling Overnight stand out from the rest is what happens between the starting point and ending point. It works so well without having to be over the top.” waytooindie.com
