This book was an inspiring, insightful glimpse into spirituality without religion, and finding or creating magic in life without necessarily practising archaic traditions. It's about defining for yourself what you want to honour and cherish in life and how you want to do so: celebrating birthdays & weddings; mourning & honouring the dead; celebrating summer solstice; creating light & warmth during winter solstice. With religions, it jumps from Islam & Shintoism to Christianity & Hinduism, but focuses heavily on Judaism. The book also focuses very heavily on Carl Sagan, the American astronomer and author's father, and is very autobiographical. A little inconsistent, but overall beautiful, touching and worth reading – it'll inspire you to reflect and discover your own truths about life and this amazing world we live in.
