Description

Four Fingers and Thirteen Toes, is the story of how Rosaleen Moriarty-Simmonds (more usually known as "Rosie" to her family and friends) overcame horrendous injuries to her physical being as a result of her mother being prescribed Thalidomide during pregnancy. The drug left Rosie with short arms and legs. Four fingers, two sprouting from each shoulder and thirteen toes on legs which came to an abrupt end where ordinarily her knee caps would be. The story charts Rosie's birth into an Irish immigrant family, her early years filled with long periods of hospitalisation and treatment, through to her school and post schooling years and then onto adulthood where true fulfilment of a lifetime's desire to be independent was achieved.
