Author Biography:

Alexander Lange Kielland wurde am 18.02.1849 in Stavanger geboren; er starb am 06.04.1906 in Bergen. Er stammte aus einem einflussreichen, wohlhabenden Kaufmannsgeschlecht. Sein Studium der Rechtswissenschaften beendete er 1871 mit dem Staatsexamen. Ein Jahr spater heiratete er Beate Ramstand und lie sich in seiner Heimatstadt als Besitzer und Leiter einer kleinen Ziegelei nieder, die er bis 1881 betrieb. 1878/79 ging er nach Paris, um Autor zu werden. Dort traf er BjornstjerneBjornson, der Kiellands Schreibversuche unterstutzte. 1892 ubernahm er das Burgermeisteramt in Stavanger; ab 1902 war er Amtmann in More und Romsdal. Quelle: Wikipedia
