Gary has also won three Gold Gloves for catching, and in 1986 he was rated the best clutch hitter in the major leagues. That same year, he helped lead the New York Mets to victory in the World Series. In 2003, he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, being the first player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Montreal Expo.
