Glass Road is a board game that allows 1 to 4 players to build their own trade empire in a medieval setting. The game is designed to be played within 20 to 80 minutes and is suitable for players aged 13 and above.

The game revolves around the tradition of glass-making in the Bavarian Forest, and players must skillfully manage their glass and brick production to construct the right structures and keep their businesses thriving. The game board represents the landscape, and players manipulate it by cutting the forest for fuel, as well as creating and removing ponds, pits, and groves to gather necessary resources.

At the beginning of each building period, players choose a hand of five specialist cards from a set of fifteen. Each specialist card has two abilities. If a player plays a specialist that no other player has in their hand, they can use both abilities of that card. However, if multiple players play the same specialist, each player can only use one of the two abilities.

By utilizing the abilities of the specialists, players can collect resources, manipulate the landscape, and construct different types of buildings. There are three categories of buildings: processing buildings, immediate buildings with one-time effects, and buildings that provide bonus points at the end of the game based on various accomplishments.

The game's strategic challenge lies in choosing the best specialist cards to play and timing their usage effectively, while also constructing a combination of buildings that synergize well together. Balancing these elements is crucial to success in Glass Road.

Glass Road has received several accolades and nominations, including being a 2013 Meeples' Choice Nominee, a 2013 Jocul Anului în România Advanced Finalist, and a nominee for the 2013 Board Game Quest Awards Game of the Year and Best Strategy/Euro Game categories.
