The markers are conveniently grouped by county, and the counties are arranged alphabetically. Included are separate maps for each of the 100 counties and 107 additional illustrations.

Author Biography:

Michael Hill is supervisor of the Research Branch of the N.C. Office of Archives and History and the former coordinator the N.C. Highway Historical Marker Program. He earned an B.A. degree in history and journalism and an M.A. degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
