Jeffrey Thompson, 47 year-old over-the-road truck driver was trying to get home to spend Labor Day weekend with his wife and stepson. He handed the stationmaster his log which showed he had eight hours rest since his last run. Even though he figured he had rested well enough behind the steering wheel of his 18-wheeler, he convinced himself to find a motel in the next town and get some sleep. He rubbed his eyes. Just five more miles. He doesn't realize he is about to be thrown into his part of Heaven's Mission. On the main street of town, people screamed and ran into buildings. A red Mazda swerved, trying to get out of the path of an 18-wheeler. The loud groan and crunching of metal and glass was the last sound she heard. Then everything went black.
