Rose Halsey is a self-taught illustrator based in upstate New York, where she lives with her family. Art has always been important to Rose. In school, she struggled with a learning disability, but she always felt comfortable in art class. Throughout her life, she experimented with different types of art, including jewelry making, photography, and mural painting. Rose worked as a pre-K teacher and enjoyed creating crafts with the children. Her husband helped her decide to pursue a career as a freelance illustrator. Rose loves drawing with traditional mediums, but has also been working digitally for over 8 years. She is incredibly inspired by nature and its intricate colors and textures. Some of her favorite things to draw include trees, flowers, and mountains. Rose is also inspired by her children, who love to make art with her and have the biggest imaginations. When she is not creating, Rose enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors, hiking, camping, and fishing. Cottage Door Press is an independent publisher of high-quality children's books.
