Composer, producer, and remixer William Orbit is an electronica figure extraordinaire. In addition to working with everyone from Prince to Sting to Madonna, Orbit has also released a string of solo albums that showcase his lush, ambient style. 2006's HELLO WAVEFORMS is one such album, and the gorgeous, highly melodic compositions it contains are some of his finest.
Synthesizers, drum programming, guitar, and occasional vocals are the elements that create HELLO WAVEFORMS' evocative soundscapes. The tunes are ghostly and vaguely sci-fi (as underlined by song titles like "You Know Too Much About Flying Saucers"), yet warm and inviting at once, creating a headphone experience that should appeal to fans of new age albums and connoisseurs of contemporary high-brow electronica.
