Here Comes Mr. Jordan
Boxer Joe Pendleton (Robert Montgomery, Night Must Fall) is killed in a plane crash on the way to a championship fight. Unfortunately, Joe wasn't supposed to die and is brought up to heaven too soon by an overeager angel (Edward Everett Horton, Arsenic and Old Lace).
The angel's boss, Mr. Jordan (Claude Rains, Casablanca), sends Joe back to earth in the body of a murdered playboy to straighten out his life and resume his boxing career. Along the way, he meets an idealistic young woman (Evelyn Keyes, The Seven Year Itch) and falls head over heels in love.
Critic Reviews:
- " Excellent acting, cinematography, and direction, with a consistently upbeat and reasoning approach to heavy themes. " – Mike Massie
- " Effortlessly charming and endlessly imitated, Here Comes Mr. Jordan is a fantasy comedy with a surprisingly complex take on the afterlife and the nature of fate. " – Matthew Lucas
- " There are some nice comic moments peppered throughout, but more interesting than the film itself is its influence on film and TV. " – Christopher Machell
