"Hostel - Eli Roth's Masterpiece "
5 stars"

Writer/Director Eli Roth after the success of his debut film “Cabin Fever” came back with more cash and more ideas bringing us his graphic horror “Hostel”.

The story begins in Amsterdam following two American backpackers and their Icelandic friend “Oli” as they travel Europe seeking girls. They head to Bratislava with promise of finding beautiful women but when they arrive one by one they begin to go missing. Little do they know the remote eastern Europe town is the home of a ruthless criminal business allowing Businessmen to kill and torture for a price.

This film helped to transform the way people make horror films, Not just relying on blood and guts but great characters and story.

"Best horror ever seen"
5 stars"

This is the only horror movie that has made me go weak at the knees, if you only watch one horror in your lifetime, make it this one.

"Torture-porn"
1 stars"

I'm not exactly a a horror movie snob, and I will admit to liking the likes of Saw and other overly gore focused films, but this film is truly awful.

Instead of a plot, it throws together a half-assed excuse to throw a few people together so that they can be violently, and graphically tortured. That's it. The plot it practically non-existent, and the rest of the film is just watching people having eyes torn out, or drills jammed into their flesh with no cutaways or attempt at censoring. Sadly, the film takes itself seriously, unlike most other gore films which realise that ridiculous violence can be made vaguely amusing if presented humorously (The Devil Dared Me To, Planet Terror, Friday the 13th, etc)

Ultimately, the only thing I felt for the film was a strong sense of nausea. Partly because of the intense violence, partly for the lack of any redeeming features.
