"Led Zeppelin at their best!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This CD is a collection of the songs Led Zeppelin played at a live concert in Long Beach Arena and LA Forum in America. These songs were the songs that won Led Zeppelin their audience in America. These songs were recorded live on stage and really show the quality of the musicality behind this incredible band. I highly recommend this to everyone, even if you are not a Led Zeppelin fan.

"Arguably Led Zeppelin's peak"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Overall, a tighter, more aggressive set than on The Song Remains the Same Soundtrack. The band's live musical skills probably peaking, however Robert Plant's vocal improvising can be excessive and at times irritating. Nearly 20 minutes of ‘Moby Dick’ will see most people reaching for the skip button. But otherwise a wide reaching musical demonstration of virtuosity and energy.

Description

Finally released in 2003, long sought-after by Zeppelin devotees and collectors, this marked the first-ever official release of rare and legendary performances.

Recorded in California, 'How The West Was Won' is a brilliant audio complement to the 'Led Zeppelin' live DVD. The material on the three CDs has been culled from two of the most legendary and incendiary live performances by Led Zeppelin, at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena on June 25th and 27th, 1972. Melded together and sequenced to replicate a single concert from beginning to end, it captures the band at the height of their formidable powers. Among the highlights are a 25-plus minute version of "Dazed And Confused" and a 23-minute medley based around "Whole Lotta Love." Alongside such classics as "Stairway To Heaven" and "Rock And Roll," these shows find the band introducing songs from their forthcoming 'Houses of the Holy' album, which would not be released for another nine months.
