Description

Relationships and sexuality are key elements of human development, regardless of neurodiversity. So how can families and frontline staff help autistic adults and those with additional needs to navigate their sexual development safely? Grounded in peer-reviewed research, this evidence-based resource guides parents and care professionals through the complex issue of sexual behaviour in adults with additional needs. Covering key topics such as privacy, appropriate touch and abuse, readers are provided with a comprehensive action plan to ensure issues can be addressed as they arise. Emphasising the importance of communication as a two-way street between families and frontline staff, practical advice and easy-read chapter summaries explore how and when parents and professionals can work together. This is an essential read for anyone who supports adults with additional needs, and who is seeking a clear, practical approach to encourage healthy exploration and development.
