I have been written this booklet based on my own perspective after living for a period of time in the United States. I have brought with me a number of practical experiences as a lawyer and teacher for several years in my country of origin. I have also used experiences and lessons drawn from situations that are common among immigrants in the U. S. My purpose has been to offer a series of essential, practical tips to help immigrants overcome difficulties, turning them into strengths to remain and flourish in this country as legal residents.
