This mental exercise can be practised on a daily basis, making us more aware of how and why we experience, feel, and accept beauty and risk in our lives. When we reflect on those experiences, we think about what makes us different-and what makes us human.
Author Biography:
Ahmed Fathi Shalabi has worked for more than forty years as a researcher, regulator, diplomat, and standards developer. He has a PhD in nuclear engineering, which brings a strong understanding of political and technical risk. The beauty in his life is his family, culture, education, and travels. As a second-generation Egyptian, being different helped define Ahmed's identity as a Canadian.
Ahmed lives in Ottawa, Canada, with his wife, their two daughters, and two cats.
