Tim Heidecker, among being a comedian, writer, actor and director, is a great
musician. He
is a friendly guy who lives outside Los Angeles alongside his wife and daughter
in Glendale,
California, hence the title of his latest album, In Glendale.
In Glendale is a “post-normcore delight of exuberant bar rock, morning
after parlour ballads
and tragicomic folk novelties.” Fans can certainly expect a fair share of
humour, as tracks
range from “Cleaning Up the Dog Shit” to “I Dare You to Watch Me Sleep”
and “I Saw
Nicolas Cage”.
Though his natural basis is comedy, he delivers this album with the same
subtle humour
that paved the way for him in his early career. What’s good is, this album
doesn’t scream
the likes of somebody trying to be funny, it just prevails easily
nevertheless.
