There are portals in the heavens, pathways to faraway realms. S�r�n is Elder Prince of the Aos S�, the ruling clan of the Fae of An R�imse Naofa. For two Mortal Fae lifetimes he had ruled the Eastern Reaches in peace, but an old enemy he thought to have been defeated and imprisoned in the Court of the Dead has escaped and has issued an ultimatum. Come face him at the time and place of his choosing or An R�imse Naofa will be invaded. S�r�n, knowing Daighre may have acquired the powers of Necromancy, making him the most perilous foe in Tir na nOg, answers the challenge. His fate is in the hands of the Prophets and The Creator. Mariel is an ex-Marine living in a cabin in the wilds of Maine. She served in Iraq with a combat unit and had seen action, but her tour was ended by a car bomb that left her with PTSD and memories she needed to forget. The cabin was her grandfather's and she had spent many summers there with him, learning the ways of her tribes, the Penobscot and Passamaquoddy. Now it was where she had retreated from the world, even from her tribes, to try to forget all that had happened in Iraq and to minimize the debilitating episodes of PTSD. The cabin is located on a piece of land on Douglas Pond called Cross Point, and is said to be a sacred place where ancient Native spirits cross to and from the eternal realm, but Mariel no longer believes the lore of her tribes. When a freak wind funnel drops a badly wounded winged man into the lake, Mariel's sequestered lifestyle is disrupted by the presence of an alien being that has abilities she finds invasive and frightening. S�r�n does not know where he is or how he arrived in this strange world. Mariel and S�r�n must learn to cope with one another and the situation in which they find themselves, and to find a way for S�r�n to return home. S�r�n believes the way home lies in reaching out to the Native Spirit he believes he can detect at Cross Point. What they don't know is the way home for S�r�n is also the way home for Mariel.
