For anyone interested in a different setting and context for detective fiction these stories are fantastic. The plotting while sometimes a litle convoluted, and relying on coincidence is credible and the stories remain a mystery till the end. The characters and acting are believable if perhaps a little stereotypical and the series allows for good character development. Add to that stunning scenery and the sicilian light and you have the ingredients for great viewing mentally and visually. If only we could get SBS in NZ!!
