Description

Born out of the late '80s/early '90s acid jazz movement, British funksters Jamiroquai carved out their own slice of feel-good, eminently danceable pop with a social conscience. Whether they were lamenting the state of the environment in 'When You Gonna Learn' or talking politics in 'Too Young To Die', Jay Kay's eco-warrior persona was always compelling. Fusing '70s disco, funk, R&B, and jazz with Aboriginal and Latin influences, Jamiroquai sounded unlike any other band in pop music. Thanks to their charismatic--if at times outspoken--frontman, the band enjoyed success across Europe, but failed to crack America. The closest they came was in 1996 with the cautionary 'Virtual Insanity' from Grammy-winning album TRAVELLING WITHOUT MOVING. But it was with their fourth album SYNKRONIZED that the band really hit their stride, producing the stomping UK #1 hit 'Deeper Underground' and disco gem 'Canned Heat'. Subsequent efforts have seen the band shift gear towards an edgier, more synthesized sound. Tracklisting: When You Gonna Learn Too Young To Die Blow Your Mind Emergency on Planet Earth If I Like It
