Description

Ofcial reissue of Joan Baez’s landmark 1960 debut album. This version is cut from the original stereo tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, pressed and plated at RTI and housed in a Stoughton old-style tp-on jacket. 180 gram vinyl. ’Joan Baez’ introduced the world to the pure and soaring soprano of a then 19 year-old unknown folk singer, who had recently come to prominence afer the 1959 Newport Folk Festval. Upon its inital release, the album landed at #15 on the Billboard 200 and spent 140 weeks on the chart. The recording has been honored by the Natonal Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences in 2011, who inducted it into the Grammy Hall Of Fame; and by the Library of Congress in 2015, who selected it to be preserved in the Natonal Recording Registry.
