Description

This title contains essays which explore three interrelated questions: does Hebrew bible, or subsequent Jewish tradition, teach environmental responsibility or not?; what Jewish teachings, if any, appropriately address today's environmental crisis?; and do ecology, Judaism, and philosophy work together, or are they at odds with each other in confronting the crisis?

Author Biography:

Martin D. Yaffe is Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies and a member of the Center for Environmental Philosophy at the University of North Texas. He is the author of Shylock and the Jewish Question (1997).
