Description

The theory of the physical movement and the geometry of movement--kinematics--is used as the basis for this text/reference. In a first of its kind, this book applies that knowledge of kinematics and kinematic chains to the design of machine components and machine systems. It covers a broad spectrum of critical machine design topics and helps the reader understand the fundamentals, apply the technologies, and get the desired outcomes. The book presents the reader with a teachable and computer-oriented text, and includes examples and instructive problems. Useful analytical techniques provide the student and the practitioner with powerful tools for the design of kinematic chains and machine components. The book will serve also as a reference for the practicing engineer and designer and as a source book for the researcher. The book is a one-volume reference for engineers and students in mechanical engineering, with usefulness for all engineers and designers working in the fields of machine design and robotics. The book contains the fundamental laws and theories of science basic to mechanical engineering including mechanisms, robots and machine components. The book provides readers with a basic understanding of the subject together with guidance to mechanical design.
