Description

Kokoon on a Hill increases awareness of the severe shortage of foster families that are needed for the many children waiting for stability. In this crisis, foster care has been forced to place children in detention centers and state offices because people are not willing to work within our broken system. Kokoon on a Hill provides experienced insight on life as a foster family and how foster children did not break the system and deserve to be taken care of. Never let the fears of heartache from the system keep you from the heartwarming rewards of loving the children. Kokoon on a Hill was written to share the challenges and triumphs of fostering by: 1. Informing of the need for foster families and the effects of what this shortage is doing to the children that have already been abused 2. Empowering foster families to foster within a broken system 3. Inspiring potential foster families to embrace their calling to foster

Author Biography:

Elise M Schuster is an author, an advocate for foster families, and a speaker for kids in care. She believes foster families should be heard, validated for all they do, and granted rights to speak for the children they spend so much time with. Elise shares ways to bridge the gap between all team members involved in the care of foster children. Through trials and triumphs, she has learned many skills to work with the system and achieve positive results. Elise uses her years of experience as a mom of two birth children, nine adopted children, and forty-nine foster children to help others understand being a foster parent is an honor and an amazing call to serve. Her passion is to help others embrace the idea of fostering and make a difference in the life of children that need them.
