Here's the thing, this is not a traditional version of Kong. It contains many of the elements but it is more of an action flick than a love story (yes, the original was considered a variant of a love story). Personally I found the new take refreshing and as far as action, it is there in spades. If you are a traditionalist prepare to be dissapointed. If you approach this as a stand alone action adventure with many familiarities you'll love it. The story is some what predictable but overall it's a hell of a lot of fun. Spoiler alert !!! do not read on if you don't want clues to the end… the absence of a brutal end for the ape shapes the movie insuch a way as to still have strong elements of sentimentality minus the sadness. I mention this as some times it's good to have a happy end to an other wise emotionally charged movie.
