‘Kura Huna’, the 4th album from award wining artist Whirimako Black, is a beautiful album featuring a much-cherished collection of traditional waiata and chant originating from the Mataatua region (the landfall place of one of the very first waka to arrive in NZ). To bring these songs to a contemporary audience, Whirimako collaborated closely with talented oboe player, composer and Windom Hill recording artist Russel Walder. ‘Kura Huna’ is an extensive and ambitious work, from its slipcase beautiful packaging to its impeccable recording quality and impressive musical arrangements, this is an album to be treasured.
