Description

On his deathbed, Xerxes summons a scribe in order to record his timeless admiration for king Leonidas. In his last moments, Xerxes tells the scribe of Leonidas' beginning... After the Persians conquer the cities of Ionia, the enslaved masses form a rebellion known as "the Ionian Revolt." After Darius quashes the rebellion, he seeks vengeance against Greece for supporting the conquered cities. His son, Xerxes, aims to invade and conquer Greece, but little does he know that the Spartiates or Spartans are unlike any other army. Leonidas is the son of a king, but his younger brothers are to succeed him to the throne. He grows up in the agoge, but when his brothers die unexpectedly he becomes the Spartan king. When the Persians arrive, Leonidas and the other Spartans will shake the foundation of history itself and leave Persia's overweening ambition in the dust.
