Author Biography:

Who We Are The Pascack Pi-oneers are a FIRST Robotics team comprised of students from Pascack Valley High School and Pascack Hills High School in the Pascack Valley Regional High School District in Bergen County, N.J.. Under the direction of teacher Kevin Killian, several district teachers and community mentors, the students participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition, building a robot in six weeks to meet the challenge of an annual game. They have a passion for engineering and technology, participate in community service and find enjoyment working together as a team. What is FIRST? FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, inventor of groundbreaking medical devices as well as the Segway Human Transporter. Kamen's vision is to inspire in young people, their schools, and communities, an appreciation of science and technology, and to show how mastering these skills can enrich the lives of all. It is an international non-profit organization that aspires to "transform culture, making STEM, science, technology, engineering and math, as cool for kids as sports are today." This book is dedicated to Dr. Bart Kamen. Inspired by his dedication to pediatric oncology and his passionate effort to change the lives of his patients.
