From the pen of Ruth Rendell, by way of flambuoyant Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, comes this sexy, noirish thriller.

Victor (Liberto Rabal) is naïve, inexperienced, and desperately in love with the drug-addled Elena (Francesca Neri). Elena, on the other hand, has no recollection of Victor whatsoever. When he breaks into her apartment, Elena panics, calling the police, but when officers David (Javier Bardem) and Sancho (Jose Sancho) burst in to save Elena, events take a turn for the worse and the lives of everyone involved are changed irrevocably. David is confined to a wheelchair, Victor to a prison cell, and Elena to marriage.

After serving a prison sentence for his part in the affair, Victor's thoughts turn to revenge, and a chance encounter with his old flame results in a deadly imbroglio of love, desire and betrayal.
