Description

In 1820 Lima, Peru under threat of revolt the Viceroy of Lima ordered the city's fabulous wealth to Mexico City for safekeeping. The wealth was loaded onto the Mary Dear, commanded by Captain William Thompson. The Captain and crew turned pirates and killed the guards and priests. They buried the treasure and before they could return they were captured by the British Navy. The crew was hanged as pirates and the Captain and First Mate agreed to show the British where they buried the treasure. The Captain took the British to Coco Island and together with the First Mate escaped into the jungle. The treasure was never found. The descendants of both the Captain and the First Mate come into possession of diaries showing the actual location of the treasure. Dr. Jack Hunter is hired to locate and retrieve the treasure hidden in an ancient Mayan ruins at Copán, Honduras
