In New England in the early 1900s, an orphan named Pete flees the Gogans, his abusive foster family, and meets Elliott, a magical and sometimes mischievous dragon with the ability to turn invisible. When they are taken in by the kind lighthouse keeper, Lampie, and his daughter, Nora, Elliott's prank playing lands them in big trouble. Then, when crooked salesmen try to capture Elliott for their own gain, Pete must attempt a daring rescue.
