Magna Carta: Tears of Blood is a Korean game that's very different from anything you've ever played before. The positives are few, but very strong, while the negatives are many. Firstly the negatives; the voice acting is very bad, with most actors hestitant and stilited. The camera is fixed and is often stuck behind a tree while combat carries on regardless. Loading times seem endless, in fact the entire game proceeds at a leisurely walk. But the combat system is the most worrying. It's overly complicated, with many things to take into consideration – meters and gauges and circles and dials – and it's hard to get the hang of. Personally, I was only able to master the most basic of the 3 combat styles. However, should you see past those things you'll find Hyung-Tae Kim has brought his own unique visual appeal to Magna Carta. Simply put, it looks fabulous. The characters are superbly rendered – if overly busty – and the settings lush and beautiful. And the story is intruiging. In fact it's those two things alone are the real draw of this game.
